Women’s Health

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is considered a "silent" disease because it has almost no warning signs, yet occurs frequently among postmenopausal women.

What Is It?
The answer is in its name. Osteo means bone. Porosis means porous. Osteoporosis is when your bones become porous (full of tiny holes), thin and brittle, causing them to be more likely to break. It is not a natural sign of aging, but rather a serious disease that can, and should be treated. If you believe you are at risk, talk to your doctor about bone-building solutions.

Fast Fact
Even a sneeze can cause bone fractures in victims of advanced osteoporosis.

Mammograms
Breast cancer is a particularly dangerous form of cancer. It spreads rapidly and afflicts millions of women each year. Mammograms are x-rays that can reveal minute breast tumors undetectable by clinical breast exams. Simply put, a mammogram can save your life. If you are 40 years of age or more, make an appointment today.

Screening Schedule
Early Detection is your best defense against many diseases. The following screening schedule is by no means exhaustive and should be used as a general guideline. Consult your doctor for a screening schedule that's right for you.
